About the Work

Not every battle leaves a visible scar, and not every loss ends in breaking.

Some learn to reshape themselves, again and again, until resilience becomes part of who they are—not merely something they have endured.

This work is not about heroism, but about the traces life leaves within us when we choose to continue despite all that has been taken away. What gathers beneath the surface does not disappear; it settles into layers of silence, into a kind of beauty that seeks no recognition, but simply exists.

Between fragility and strength, between loss and holding, something remains beyond reach:

the ability to remain.

About the Artist

Maysa Suliman

Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia

Maysa Suliman is a Saudi contemporary artist whose practice explores collective memory, inherited cultural structures, and the traces left by time, pressure, and passage. Working primarily through abstraction, she builds tactile surfaces by hand using gesso, acrylic, and mixed media, repeatedly layering, sanding, erasing, and rupturing the material. Her work draws from customs, traditions, and cultural memory, examining tensions between fragility and resilience, silence and expression, giving and boundaries, and what disappears versus what remains.
